Brief Introduction

 

Sluice valve is kind of widely used block valve with large range of working pressure and temperature, used for stopping or connecting the medium inside of pipeline. Sluice valve concludes rising stem sluice valve and non-rising stem sluice valve. Sluice valves are characterised as having either a rising or a nonrising stem. The distinct feature of a gate valve is the sealing surfaces between the gate and seats are planar, so gate valves are often used when a straight-line flow of fluid and minimum restriction is desired. The gate faces can form a wedge shape or they can be parallel. Gate valves are primarily used to permit or prevent the flow of liquids, but typical gate valves shouldn't be used for regulating flow, unless they are specifically designed for that purpose. Because of their ability to cut through liquids, gate valves are often used in the petroleum industry.

Product Features

 

The channel inside of valve is straight, low flow resistance.
No matter open or close, valve disc always moves perpendicular to the direction of flow, easy to switch.

The lifting of disc based on the motion of stem, long stroke, therefore, it will cost long time to switch, but avoided the existence of water hammer. 
Both sides of channel is symmetrical, mediums can flow toward two directions, easy to install.

Z41 rising stem sluice valve and Z45 nonrising stem sluice valve


1. Rising stem sluice valve: valve nut is at cover or bracket, rotate the nut to realize lifting of valve stem, this kind of structure is conducive not only lubrication of stem but also have a distinct open or close degree, and now it has been widely used.
2. Nonrising stem sluice valve touch with mediums directly, suitable for installation underground or where vertical space is limited. The disadvantages of this structure is that thread will be corroded or damaged.

 

The different between rising stem and nonrising stem sluice valve

 

Rising stems provide a visual indication of valve position because the stem is attached to the gate such that the gate and stem rise and lower together as the valve is operated. Nonrising stem valves may have a pointer threaded onto the upper end of the stem to indicate valve position, since the gate travels up or down the stem on the threads without raising or lowering the stem. Nonrising stems are used underground or where vertical space is limited.

Installation Notes


1. Hand wheel, level, and transmission mechanism can not be craned or crashed.
2. Double disc sluice should be installed vertically
3. It should open by-pass valve firstly before open sluice valve, to reduce pressure, please install according to instructions if valve with a transmission mechanism.
4. The valve must be lubricated not less once every month if valve is used frequently.
5. Sluice valve used as stopping medium, the pressure loss will reach lowest when fully opeded.
6. Sluice valve is suitable for working conditions which fully opened or closed, not suitable for adjustment or throttling.

 

Operation Instructions

 

1. Make sure pipeline and valve has been cleaned up before operation.
2. Rotate hand wheel counter-clockwise, drive stem, disc to open, the channel will be fully open when rising height equal to valve diameter, conversely, then valve will be closed when hard to rotate the hand wheel at clockwise.
3. Valve only suitable for cut off mediums, therefore, half closed situation is not allowed.
4. If there are leaks near the cover while feeding after valve running for a time, it could fasten the nut, leakage will be eliminated.
